I grew up in Santa Clara, California

Tulum

I’m still in the Bay Area but I’d rather be on a beach somewhere…

My pup Buster is always eager to join in the meals, sadly he never is allowed to actually partake in the eating part…

Master of Persian food and cooking in general, Maman Basorg has inspired and fed our entire family since before I can remember.

Growing up, she would pick out meat pieces from her plate and put them on mine before I was finished. I learned how to cook all of my Persian dishes from her and my dad.

These days I am looking for any opportunity to impress her. Word gets around quickly in my family and I have a reputation to uphold!

Earning my grandmother’s praise is one of my most cherished achievements.

I like to think that this is reflected in my cooking style. The creative aspects of cooking have always been a source of my passion, including the visual sense.

I pick all of my ingredients by hand, and often find myself gravitating the most colorful fruits, vegetables, and meats.

That’s not to say that some of the best things I’ve ever eaten all look exquisite, however. As we know, looks can be very deceiving.

Luckily the tongue and the heart never lie.

Salted Flank Steak Chimichurri with Truffle Couscous

Food that caught my eye always tasted better to me.

How would I describe my meals?

Colorful, Lush, Meaty, Hearty, Healthy, Salty, Sweet, Spicy

Intense flavors that make a statement.

Protein heavy nutrient dense meals with a light carb element.

There’s nothing I hate more than being skimped on meat when eating out.

Medium is the way I cook my meats.

Whether I smoke it, pan sear, sous-vide, or braise i’m always aiming for medium.

Over the years I’ve become keen on a few different styles…
